Skip to main contentThere are many great elements to experience in person as part of this year’s Carlisle GM Nationals, June 24-25 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds. The event that welcomes more than 1,000 show cars and trucks to the National Parts Depot Showfield also does its part to support charity, specifically the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation (CMAF).
For two days at Carlisle, not only will guests enjoy a plethora of Camaros, Novas, S-10s, Buicks, Pontiacs, etc., but will also find a nice array of America’s Sports Car; the Corvette. The aforementioned Corvettes come to the Showfield as part of Corvettes for Chip, a show within the show, that benefits the CMAF.
Corvettes for Chip is hosted by the CMAF in partnership with the York County Corvette Club and offers raffles, 50/50 drawings, baked goods for sale and a chance to see some of the nicest Corvettes in the region. Fun Field registration also offers full access to the Carlisle GM Nationals for two (car owner and guest), an opportunity to be judged, a special CMAF pin and more.
As an added bonus, everyone who registers for the Corvettes for Chip Fun Field receives a FREE guided tour of the Miller Family Garage while at the event. The garage contains classic, rare, and unique rides; primarily Corvettes, but other collectible showcars too.
For those who partake in the fun that is Corvettes for Chip, it’s also a chance to enjoy all that the GM Nationals has to offer. Previously mentioned are the different types of cars and trucks that may be on-site, but specific displays include 40 Years of the 3rd Gens, 60 Years of the Nova/Chevy II, 40 Years of the S-10, plus the annual Solid Lifter Showroom in Building Y.
What is Amyloidosis? First and foremost, it’s the disease that took Chip Miller from his loved ones and the automotive world in 2004. Amyloidosis is a rare disease that develops when amyloid proteins deposit and accumulate in the body’s organs and tissue. This accumulation may happen systemically (throughout the body) or locally (in one tissue). Annually, 3,000 cases are diagnosed, but the disease is still rare enough that usually by the time it’s detected, it’s too late. This was the case for Chip and why the CMAF hosts events like Corvettes for Chip to not only raise money for those affected by the disease, but to raise awareness for it too so that others don’t lose their loved ones.
