The Official Start of Summer Can’t Happen Without the Carlisle GM Nationals

Mar 18, 2022, 14:30 PM by Michael Garland

The first day of summer, according to every calendar created for 2022, is June 21.  While that might officially usher in three months of shorts, vacations, and warm weather, at Carlisle, summer can’t officially start without the Carlisle GM Nationals.  This year’s showcase of all things GM is happening June 24-25 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds and it’s fair to say that for two days in late June, summertime fun will be had by one and all who make the journey to Carlisle.

This event is one of the most diverse of its type, welcoming anything and everything that falls under what’s considered the General Motors umbrella.  This includes Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Pontiac, GMC, and more.  It’s also home to multiple shows within the show, as the Nova Nationals return to Carlisle as does Corvettes for Chip.  The Nova Nationals can be found on the east side of the grounds in and around the pavilion, while Corvettes for Chip is just east of the stage and showcases Corvettes, while raising money and awareness for the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation.

The Carlisle GM Nationals also celebrate the history of some iconic rides with special displays and guests.  Planned displays for 2022 include the following:

In addition, the S-10 celebration spans two shows, with an additional feature of the beloved truck planned for the Carlisle Truck Nationals presented by A&A Auto Stores, August 5-7.

The Carlisle GM Nationals show cars and trucks don’t just park and shine, they roll, rev, and turn heads too!

There are multiple competitions that put the wheels in motion including a rolling exhaust contest, and the Real Street Shootout (autocross), open autocross runs, and track ride-alongs with UMI Performance.  There’s one other great way for a sensory experience at the event and that comes courtesy of drag racing legend Bruce Larson and Nitro Fest.

Cars and trucks on display and in motion aren’t the only draws, as the automotive flea market offers a mix of vendors selling items and buyers looking for a deal.  This is always a great outlet for original and after market parts shoppers, collectibles, and merchandise.  Finally, car clubs converge to socialize and recruit, while industry experts host seminars; sharing their expertise within the hobby.

The Carlisle GM Nationals is actively taking registrations for the Showfield, vendor registrations for the automotive flea market, and selling discounted spectator tickets in advance of the June 24-25 offering.  Learn more about the competitions, special displays, and get involved today by calling 717-243-7855 or online at CarlisleEvents.com.
