Find classic to late-model imported vehicles in all varieties of make, model and condition. You can shop, compare and make the deal directly with the owner. Notary services including temporary tags are available in the car corral. All vehicles in the corral must be for sale, in running condition and cannot be displayed on trailers. The swap meet offers anything and everything an import and kit automotive enthusiast could want. Interested vendors must be selling automotive merchandise or at least an 80/20% mix. In addition, no T-shirts, clothing, wax, tools, diecast, models or food will be accepted. Spaces are approximately 10’ frontage x 30’ depth and rent for $70 per outside space for the entire event. Last year, we held the very first ever vintage motorcycle display inside Building R. We filled the space with bikes from the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club (VJMC), in conjunction with the Japanese theme for 2009. The display was a crowd favorite and fit perfectly with the cars and atmosphere of the event. Look for the vintage motorcycle display and show area to grow this year. A special parking area will be available on the IKR Showfield for all vintage bikes. If you have a 1979 or older Yamaha, BSA, Honda, BMW or other import bike, join over 1,000 import cars at IKR. The IK Nationals Race Car Paddock is a highlight area of the Showfield, located just inside of Gate 3. The Race Car Paddock is reserved exclusively for imports and kits that are set up for racing. All race cars are eligible – from road racers and autocross to drag and rally cars. Show off your race car and hang out with fellow drivers and race enthusiasts in this featured area. If you get the urge to get some track time in, you can always make a few laps on our on-site autocross. Save $10 by registering for the event by May 2. The Carlisle Import and Kit Nationals has long been home to many car clubs with some using the event as the host to their national meets. We recognize the largest clubs at the awards ceremony on Sunday. Awards are presented to the three (3) largest clubs (based on the number of registered show vehicles). Clubs that register a minimum of 25 vehicles are eligible to receive the use of a 20’ X 20’ tent for the weekend at no charge. These tents make a great location for the club headquarters and the ideal place to hang out and socialize. Larger clubs are eligible for larger tents – call Val at (717) 243-7855 for more details.

Clubs that receive a Carlisle Events’ supplied tent are encouraged to participate in the Coolest Club Hangout competition. There aren’t any official rules and the process is simple: just decorate your tent in a manner that would make the Carlisle staff want to hangout with your club for the weekend. Colorful displays, cool banners and people having lots of fun always attract our attention. The winning club will be awarded a banner that can be proudly displayed on your tent for the weekend letting everyone know where the place to be is!

Don’t just sit in a lawn chair all weekend; show us what your car can do by taking your turn on our on-site autocross track! The autocross track is located in the North Field. The track has the feel of a road course and features six turns as well as elevation changes. Be sure to sign up early, before it’s sold out. If you’re not ready to get behind the wheel we offer a viewing deck above the track where you can safely watch the action. If you have any questions or want to learn more about autocross competition, members of the Susquehanna Region of the SCCA and its chapter club, the Appalachian Sports Car Club, will be on-hand all weekend.

We will be roaming the IK Nationals Showfield on Friday in search of their ten favorite vehicles to become the newest members of the Carlisle Elite. To be picked for the Carlisle Elite, your car doesn’t have to be rare or a high dollar, professional restoration. In fact, the only real criterion is that it catches our collective eye. Make sure your car is registered and parked on the Showfield on Friday to be eligible.

For those of you, who have taken your car to the next level and want validation for that effort, make sure to enter the Standard of Excellence Judging. Owners compete against a set of criteria on the judging sheets rather than against other vehicles. Our qualified judging team consists of knowledgeable automotive enthusiasts and industry professionals. Classes are available for imports, kits and unrestored originals.

Axcelerated Motorsports is the official Dyno of Carlisle Events. Axcelerated provides mobile Dyno tuning for cars and trucks using their Dynojet 248 chassis dynamometer. Their wide band O2 monitoring will determine if all that precious fuel is making power or just being wasted out the tailpipes.

While you’re here at the IK Nats, tune up your automotive knowledge with free seminars taking place all weekend and open to all show attendees. Sessions are available for import and kit owners. Previous topics have ranged from power tuning to building an entire kit car. Seminars are typically informal with plenty of opportunities for interaction with the seminar presenters. All presenters are very knowledgeable in their areas of expertise and most are available during the weekend for further discussion. A complete list of seminars will be available on the web site a few weeks before the show; don’t forget to check back for updates.

The Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals is fun for the entire family and we have not forgotten the kids. On Saturday, the Kids at Carlisle Activity Center Area will have crafts and games for kids and parents to enjoy together. Don’t miss appearances by Carlisle Events mascots Max and Mandy the Mechanic, who will visit the kid’s area periodically throughout the day. We also have lots of play activities that we think will “wow” the young ones. Come and check it out!
