The Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover

The 2009 Carlisle Bike Fest will mimic the thousands of bikes that will be parked on the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, July 17-19, in two ways: diversity and excitement. Bike Fest was created to be an event for riders of V-twins, metrics, sport bikes, choppers, custom cruisers, and fighters - both import and domestic - and everything in between; if your passion is motorcycles, Bike Fest will have a weekend full of excitement to enjoy, no matter what you ride. The Bike Fest excitement comes from a schedule jam-packed with industry displays and test rides, judged competitions, giveaways, special guests, live music, stunt shows, charity rides and family activities that will keep both the bikers who are riding and the guests who are walking, entertained from start to finish. One of the many scheduled activities that will both entertain and reward is the Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover.

The Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover, is a competition, which will culminate at the Carlisle Bike Fest. Two lucky bikers will win biker makeovers from Bike Fest special guests the Garage-Girls, Sara Liberte, Jody Perewitz and Laura Klock. One grand-prize winner will not only get a personal makeover but will also win a cosmetic makeover for their motorcycle to boot! The concept is simple: take Extreme Home Makeover for a person, in this case a biker (male or female) combine it with Pimp My Ride (a custom car makeover show) and bring it to one of the largest motorcycle events in the country; have three of the most talented, well-known women in the custom motorcycle industry host, judge and conduct the makeovers and you’ve got yourself the Garage Girls Ultimate Biker/Bike Makeover, Carlisle Edition.

The finalists have been narrowed down to two very inspiring women who use their riding to help others and are both VERY deserving of the honor:

Victoria Kriner
I am a Patriot Guard Rider, Regional Rep for Americas 911 foundations (911 ride) and also a Soldiers Angel. I believe in Volunteering because those who serve need to know they are not alone, whether we are escorting them home off the airplanes, sending them off or guiding their funerals - they need to know they are not alone! So, this is my honor to stand in the flag lines for those who stood for us! A lot of times it’s a trek on the bike. I would love to play patriotic music as I feel it is the right thing to do as I ride a mission. PLEASE PLEASE know I am very happy to live in a free country because of the sacrifices that our soldiers are making every day! I truly can answer the old question (What price freedom costs!). I know what price freedom costs! I love my FREEDOM and my American flag; if I could, my bike would be painted red white and blue with a military theme. I am content with what I have though, yes I wish for certain things. I believe if a person had everything they would still find something that they needed to have. I just want to be as comfortable on the bike as I can possibly be since she isn't a cruising bike. Good luck ladies it’s okay if I am not chosen there are others that might need it more. In May, I turned forty but that was the least of my concerns. I have two children, a daughter that just turned 18 and a son who is 11. When my son was four he was diagnosed with leukemia. We went through three years of chemo at Hershey Medical Center. When he finished and was considered "cured", I enrolled in college and bought my Harley. We had 18 months of almost normal living. Jed relapsed in January of 2007. Our world stopped; from that day, every moment has been about making him well. Jed should be finished treatment by Thanksgiving. He was grand marshal in York’s bike parade last year. He rode with my significant other and I rode my own, next to my dad. It was so very cool. I have not been able to ride much in the last few years. There have been moments when I've jumped on, knowing I could only ride around the block. When I ride out of the garage I am in a dark cloud, as I roll back the throttle I feel myself emerging into the sunshine...smiling like a fool. Those times are so important to me. Riding clears my head, makes me strong and ready to fight another day.
